Pubs

A trip to London wouldn’t be complete without visiting one of the 5,800 real London pubs. The pubs, short for public housesThe public house was originally an extension of a home, usually the living room where alcoholic beverages, mostly beer was served. can be found on every street corner and back alley in the city, sometimes two or three right next to each other. Each pub is unique in name and distinctive in its décor. You’ll find names like The Goat, The Prince Albert, Horse and Groom, and The Duke of Wellington. The elaborate interior decorations range from old doors paneling the walls, Charlie Chaplin themes, bubble glass ceilings, and stunning mirrors.

Inside you can feel the pulse of the city as locals and visitors alike drink pints of Charles Wells bitter, Theaksons Old Pecular, and Sheperd Neame real alesReal Ale is beer brewed from traditional ingredients, fermented in the container from which it is dispensed and served without the use of extra carbon dioxide. Beer is traditionally served by the pint (20 oz measure) but if you are on a pub tour you may want to order the 10 oz half pint. You can sample and visit more pubs this way. Besides beer, most pubs have great wine selections by the glass and mixed drinks
